As Italian natives living in New Jersey and mothers of bilingual children we recognized that having a structured environment where children can learn proper Italian language skills while interacting socially can greatly enhance ones sensitivity toward the Italian culture.
Marilisa Zanarella was born in Vicenza and has lived there until moving to the US with her husband. She graduated from the Technical Insitute A. Fusinieri in Accounting and Foreign Commerce with a degree in Business Administation. She worked for a company in Vicenza in the administration office and for a bankruptcy lawyer. Once a resident of New Jersey, she worked for a retail Italian company in New York City as their accountant. She has three boys, who now take up most of her daily activities.
Natalia Bernini Carri grew up in Campobasso, Italy. Natalia graduated from the University of Perugia with a degree in “Ingegneria per l’Ambiente e Territorio”. Ms. Bernini received a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic under a scholarship program. Natalia worked as a research professional for the Urban Utility Center with funding provided by the NRC. Post her research tenure, Natalia was employed for 10 years by three leading engineering consulting firms as a project manager focusing on major metropolitan projects such as the “Second Avenue Subway” and the “Queens Drainage Project” as well several Federal projects, including those sponsored by FEMA. Natalia now resides in New Jersey with her husband and children.
